GCSE Results Day 2023

Students and staff from Broadlands Academy are celebrating after receiving top GCSE grades!

The Year 11 students who sat the exams in May and June are getting their results today (24 August 2023), helping set their course for the future. The exams represent the culmination of their secondary school education and the grades students secure determine what they will go on and do next – further study, an apprenticeship or entry level role in the workplace.

This is the second year that exams have taken place as normal, but schools across the country are still dealing with the impact of the pandemic.

To support the Year 11 students, staff at Broadlands Academy, which is part of AET – a national network of schools - laid on additional interventions such as masterclasses after school, holiday revision sessions and small group booster sessions.

Principal, Louise Hamilton of Broadlands Academy said:

“I am delighted that our Year 11 students have once again done so well in their GCSEs: their results reflect huge effort and resilience over time, and a willingness to go the extra mile in terms of revision. It has been a pleasure and privilege to work with these dedicated, hard-working young people, and I am delighted that they will now be able to pursue their chosen next steps with confidence and pride.”

Karl Sampson, Regional Education Director for the South West at AET said:

“My congratulations to everyone at Broadlands Academy for everything they have achieved this year.  Our Year 11s have worked so hard and shown grit and determination and have been supported so brilliantly by the entire Broadlands team. Particular congratulations to Louie, Sam, Amallie and Bella for their results – I have every confidence they have very bright futures ahead of them.”

Schools Minister, Nick Gibb said:

“Pupils receiving their results in Broadlands Academy, and across the country, should feel very proud today. I want to congratulate them all and express my gratitude to all of the teachers and leaders who have helped them on the way.

“GCSEs are a milestone in any young person’s life, and pupils collecting results today have the opportunity to progress onto one of many high-quality options including A levels, T Levels and hundreds of apprenticeship routes. I wish them all the best whatever they decide to do.”
