Fantastic GCSE results again!

posted 6 Feb 2017, 03:19 by Google Google   [ updated 6 Feb 2017, 03:20 ]

The Year 11 students of Broadlands Academy are again celebrating a fantastic set of GCSE results. The percentage of students achieving 5 A*-C including English and Maths was over 60% for the fourth consecutive year. Progress measures have also improved at the Academy with more students than ever before achieving their target grades.

Subjects where achievements were particularly strong included Biology, Chemistry and Physics where 100% of students gained A*-C grades. Additionally, in English, Film, Graphics, History, PE, Music, Core Science and Additional Science, more than 75% of students gained A*-C grades.

There was a very pleasing increase in the number of students gaining the highest grades.  The top performers in terms of A*-A grades were:

Jordan Lear (12 A*-As)

Jasmine Rhymes (11 A*-As)

Livvie Atkins (9 A*-As)

Mia Conybeare, Josh House, Maisie Sparks, Ahmed Tumia (7 A*-As)

Ellie Homer (6 A*-As)

Charlotte Cherry, Dan Goodwin, Emily Ricketts, Charlie Saunders, Ethan Thatcher (5 A*-As)

Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History and Film were the top performing subjects in regards to A*-A grades with at least 25% of students gaining one of the top grades.

Once again students of all abilities have made amazing progress during their time at Broadlands with 92% making expected progress in English.

Mr Anderson has been Principal at Broadlands and overseen the last four years of improved results. He stated “I am absolutely delighted for the students and staff at Broadlands who have worked so hard to ensure that these fantastic results could be achieved. It has been a privilege to be a part of the success at Broadlands since we became an Academy and I am confident in the position the school now sits following its ‘Good’ Ofsted inspection earlier this year.”

Mr Anderson moves on to a new post as the Director for Education for the REAch4 Academy Trust and the new Principal, Mr James Hall, will be joining Broadlands from Hayesfield Girls’ School in January 2017. Mr Hall commented “Congratulations to all at Broadlands on another fantastic set of results. I am really looking forward to taking up my new post and working with all at Broadlands Academy in January to build upon the rapid progress and significant success achieved over the last four years”.
