We aim to ensure that all our students understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle throughout their life. The faculty of Physical Education and Health coordinates a wide range of healthy lifestyle activities for students, including the annual Health Week event.
The Academy also works to achieve the Government's compulsory guidelines for healthy eating in schools. For more information see the School Food Trust website.
We provide a wide range of nutritious and delicious snacks and meals in our refurbished Cafe BS31 and at tuck shops located elsewhere in the Academy.
Breakfast service - 8.00am to 8.40am. Cafe BS31.
Morning break - healthy snacks from 11.00am to 11.25am. Cafe BS31 and Tuck Shops.
Lunch - plated hot and cold meals (served in the Cafe BS31) and healthy snacks from 1.25pm to 2.10pm.
Meals cost £2.35, including main meal, dessert and a drink. However there is a range of cheaper healthy snacks, including pasta king pots, jacket potatoes, pizza slices, sandwiches and panini, starting from £1.00.
Instead of bringing cash to School every day, students can buy a meal deal card entitling them to to 11 meals (one per day) for the cost of 10 at £23.50. Cheques made payable to 'Broadlands Academy' and paid at the Cafe BS31. This method of payment can also reassure parents/carers that they are paying for their child to get a healthy meal each day.
